I’ve only sacrificed a t20 torx bit to my engine bay and an extension while trying to remove the ABS module. I have no idea where it fell.

More sockets, bolts, nuts, screws, skin and blood then I care to remember.

I lost a Spyderco Delica with the blade out.

Normally my car gives back. I usually end up with an extra bolt or clip or whatever when I’m done putting everything back together.

I’ve never lost any tools without retrieving them right away.

Telescoping magnets are handy. But sometimes they stick to everything else, like engine mounts or the firewall. A claw-type pickup tool works wonders.

Once, I even found a free 10mm socket that I know wasn’t one of mine.

Never lost a tool in the engine bay, both my grandpa and I have good luck with not breaking tools, though my grandpa lost his favorite socket wrench in the quarter panel of a 65 el Camino when installing the tail lights. It's still there to this day unless the cars been wrecked

I did once drop a bolt into the valley between “under the intake manifold” and “under the alternator”. Got it out though.

I’ve lost more in my center console, including two mounting bolts for the radio. I hear them rattle at highway speeds.

I don’t sacrifice things, but I do loan them out to it from time to time. More than once I’ve put the car up on the lift to find that there is still a wrench on it from the last time I worked on it.

So many knuckle chunks. Most have the same ‘C’ scar from repeated skinning.

Way too much money just to be painfully OEM

I think there’s an 8mm socket nestled into a pocket in my air intake (don’t worry it’s before the air filter)

Nothing to my cars yet, but my 8 wheel Argo has ate three sockets a 1/4 drive ratchet and a spark plug. And I can hear the fn things rolling around the bottom of the hull. Eventually it’ll irritate me enough to yank the engine and get them.

1 old spark plug. I dropped it taking it out and it did not reach the floor. It’s in there somewhere but I’ll be damned if I can find it.
